State of the Union

What can I say about what happened this weekend in Orlando that has not been said many times over?  I’m not sure but I can tell you that my feelings are my own.  I think for myself and will proudly stand up for things I feel strongly about and one of those things is that we are letting the political correctness robots systematically tell us what to think and not think, what to say and not say and how to act and not act and the results are tragic.

People are afraid to speak up about things they see/hear that are not right and sometimes downright evil.  Why?  They fear upsetting the PC robots and being called racist or hate monger or other ridiculous name simply for speaking up to protect themselves, their family and others.   I cannot be quiet about this.  I will not be quiet about this.

There is a war happening right now.  Are you aware?  Are you willing to acknowledge that there are people out there who hate our country and hate us as Americans?  I am not willing to sit quietly and have more Americans die, especially on American soil, due to fear of being politically incorrect.
People were ruthlessly targeted and killed by an animal simply because of their choice of whom to love and during a time of celebration.  Celebration of love, not hate.  By quietly sitting back and doing/saying nothing, you are accepting these events.  I cannot accept them or sit by and do nothing.

A person consciously chose to take the lives of as many people as possible in a place where they had little to no chance to protect themselves much less come out alive.  I will not call this person a man or a human because he is neither.   I will not use the name of the animal because I will not contribute to giving him any press.

Humans do not hunt other humans this way.  They do not take the lives of people simply because they do not agree with how they live and/or who they love.  Animals act this way.  Gutless, ruthless, disgusting, animals.  You cannot reason with rabid animals and you cannot reason with radical, fanatical zealots.  You destroy them.  You prevent them from taking any more lives and take measures to keep them out of our great nation and away from our people – ALL of our people.  It is no secret that there are groups of people out there who want to destroy us and everything that makes America great.  It is not a “phobia”, it is a fact.

Why was the shooter investigated more than once by the FBI and on a watch list but he was still walking around free in our country hating us, plotting and planning to kill Americans as he worked with, lived near and perhaps accepted warm greetings from them while he enjoyed the freedom and life here in America?  This is not ok.  If you think having some criteria to accept or deny people into the US is “hate” or “racism”, how do you feel about that stance today?  If you think this is a gun issue, it is not.   It is about protecting our country, our people – family, friends, loved ones.

There are people who should not be allowed into our country because they are a danger to all of us and the American way of life.  Again, this is not a matter of hate or racism or any other ridiculous ‘label’ – it is a matter of fact.  It is a matter of safety and security.   It is an act of love for our country and each other to want to keep ourselves and our lives safe and secure.

What can you do?  You can think about what you value more – not offending anyone or keeping our nation safe.   You can think for yourself, do your own research and determine how to use your vote in the upcoming election to put the US on the best path to keep our country great and make it a place where anyone looking to take us down knows we will not be bullied, attacked or tormented in our own country.  You can be alert and aware of your surroundings and speak up if you see something or someone that could pose danger to you and others.

We have a president who when faced with a mountain of evidence that what happened in Orlando was another act of TERRORISM committed by a radicalized person who communes with other radicalized people with the same deep, dark hatred of us, will not acknowledge any part of the ugly truth.  Ignoring it does not mean it is not true.  Ignoring it has not really worked out well for him or us, has it?  I would put some stats here about the amount of mass shootings during the past 8 years in comparison to the total in US history but go do the research yourself.

And to the LGBT community – I love you.  I love, admire and respect your courage to celebrate love and life without conditions or apologies.  No government or entity should ever think they have the right to tell another human who they can or cannot love, marry, divorce and/or create family with because it is not anyone’s business or place to do so.  Life is short.  Be happy and encourage strength in our communities and in our families because at the end of the day, we are all Americans.  We should stand together.  You know, the whole united we stand thing?  Yeah, that.

Never assume you know what a person is about or if they “deserve” your kindness or not.  Kindness and compassion are not conditional on stupid, trivial, hateful things.

Plot twist – I am a Republican - a southern mama, gun owning, Christian, Republican.  Did you see that coming?  No, I bet you did not.  I’m supposed to be homophobic, racist and basically beating people to death with bibles… but I’m not any of those things.  I judge people based on their actions, character and treatment of others --- and sometimes their shoes but hello?  ;-)

All for now, folks.

Put down your phone

If you are talking to someone in person, put down your phone.

If you are having a meal with other humans, put down your phone.

If you are at the movies, put down your phone.

If you are driving, put down your phone.

If you are at a museum, a park or basically any place that should be enjoyed, taken in and experienced, put down your stupid phone and engage.

If you are talking to someone on the phone and trying to text at the same time...guess what? The person you are talking to can hear you are texting unless you have keyboard sound turned off but still... put down your fucking phone.

To blog or not to blog

Hi,
I am Jackie.  I used to blog a lot years ago, it was a great outlet for me.  Outlets are good, everyone should have at least one.  I find myself needing an outlet again because I have gone far too long without one. Writing is something I like to do and well, it is cheaper than therapy so.... here I am!

I cant make any promises that this blog will be worth much to anyone other than me but that is ok, I am not using for "likes" or other goofy reasons that people use social media.  And don't get me started on social media and how out of control that crap is but that is a post for another day.

This is a place where I can just start typing and see what comes out.  Some days I may post 4 times, other days I may not post at all.  I may spew forth venom and rant like a crazy person or I may try to explain why pictures of baby animals make me cry.  Hard to say....and I know, baby animals?  Really?  YES.  Don't judge me.  ;-)

I could go into my fierce battle with anxiety but I think I will save that for another day as well.  Plenty of time to get out all my wonderfully cooky quirks.

Post #1 - complete.  #progress  haha hastagging cracks me up so fair warning, I will likely do it a lot... why?  #ItIsMyBlog

Jackie out.
